The focus at the Sandy Stramonine School of Dance is educational as opposed to the competive side of dance. We prepare or students for the rigors and disciplines of life by giving them strong technique in dance and teaching them a work ethic that encourages them to reach beyond what they think they can accomplish.
Dancers know how to set goals and meet them in a timely manner and they learn that constructive criticism is not a negative, but a positive reinforcement that pushes them to reach for the next level. That mind set gives students a confidence and self esteem that follows them through life.
Studies have shown that children in the arts are more often recongnized academically. Students are more likely to read for pleasure, perform community service more often and have better attendance in school than those who are not involved in the arts.
We are proud of all of our dancers whether they go on to professional careers in dance or those who dance just because they love to move. Where ever their career path takes them, they will be an educated audience that will keep the arts alive!
